How to Know if You Are Flossing Properly
Posted on 8/15/2019 by Bryan Neu
There are two well-known things to do to maintain good oral health. You need to brush your teeth regularly and you also need to floss every day. While it is easy to say that these two things will help improve your oral health, that is not enough. You also need to do them properly. When it comes to flossing, finding out how to do it properly is not as easy as it sounds. These are the thing you need to know if you want to learn the proper techniques for flossing. Things to Look For When you are flossing properly, there will be things that you can look for that tell you whether you are doing it properly or if there is a problem. One of the signs of a problem is if you notice bleeding or blood on the floss. This could happen for different reasons. If you have not flossed for a while, a little bleeding is normal, and it should stop once you floss regularly. You may also notice blood if you floss too hard. This could damage your gums and cause the blood you see. A second thing to look at is the amount of floss you use. Proper flossing should use between 15 and 18 inches of floss. Check the length of your floss to see if you fall within these parameters. You can also check the amount of time you are flossing. Flossing should take around 5 minutes to reach all the spots and to do a thorough job. One of the Best Ways to Tell Even if you don't see blood, use the correct length of floss and do it for long enough, you still may make some mistakes. Most people are not taught how to floss properly. If you really want to learn how to floss, ask one of our professionals to find out the proper floss techniques. We can teach you the way to get the most out of your flossing and can teach you how it helps your oral health. This knowledge can make it easier to remember to floss every day.
