Most Common Post-Filling Issues
Posted on 6/15/2019 by Bryan Neu
If you have just had a tooth filled, you are hoping that your tooth is now on the way to healing. If all goes well, your new filling will become a part of your natural tooth as much as possible, and you will have no more issues at all. However, there are times when a filling goes awry. Here are some common post-filling issues, and what you need to do to fix them. Issues with Dental Fillings The most common complaint we hear about new fillings is that the newly-filled tooth is sensitive. This means that the tooth may pain a little if you eat or drink hot, cold, or sugary foods. Your tooth might even hurt if it is exposed to air. In most cases, this sensitivity is normal, and it will pass in a few days to a few weeks. However, if your tooth still remains sensitive, you may want to have it looked at if the pain does not go away. Another common problem with fillings is that patients report pain when they bite down. If you are experiencing pain when you bite down soon after you receive the filling, it may be possible that you need to have the filling filed down a bit, because it is not lining up with your bite. You need to give us a call and come on in so we can have a look. If you are experiencing pain in other teeth, you may be experiencing referred pain. This is when the tooth with the filling is sending out pain signals that nerves in other teeth can pick up. While this pain is annoying, it will not last. If you have questions about tooth pain after a filling, why not give us a call? We would love to schedule an appointment with you to come back in so we can have a look at that pesky tooth and send you out the door with a smile!...
